Alessandra Ambrosio in a Soft Denim Romper in NYC

Alessandra Ambrosio was spotted out and about in the blistering heat of New York City last Friday afternoon. She was seen heading into an AT&T store in the West Village to get her Blackberry fixed:

After getting things done with her cellphone, the barefaced Victoria’s Secret supermodel went out of the store and tried to hail a cab. I guess even being a supermodel doesn’t guarantee you a taxi in New York because Alessandra spent ten minutes trying to hail one in the 95-degree heat! :

At least she had the paparazzi to keep her company and she was also very aptly dressed for the weather: Alessandra Ambrosio kept cool (and her cool) in a soft denim romper, aviator sunglasses, a summer scarf and brightly colored thong sandals.

It’s usually difficult for anyone over three years of age to pull of a romper but I like the baggy version that Alesssandra Ambrosio has got on in these pictures. It’s light, somewhat sporty and very casual, and best of all, NOT in an outrageous print that looks like it was meant for a three-year-old.

If I were to get a romper I would probably go for something like hers too, but maybe in a slightly heavier material so the shorts wouldn’t wrinkle around the crotch like that. Maybe something like these ones:

7 For All Mankind Boyfriend Shirt Romper, $189.00 – Inspired by the boyfriend shirt, this chambray romper looks like a separate top and shorts because of the elastic waist. No more worrying about belts and what to wear underneath boyfriend shirts!

Trina Turk Delia Bow Belt Romper, $188.00 – Love the self tie belt on this one and the stitching detail along the hem and the bustline. Not sporty-looking like Alessandra Ambrosio’s but still definitely casual enough for everyday.

DKNY Jeans Cargo Denim Short Jumper, $63.00 – The halter top silhouette is too cute that I think I can overlook the pleats on the cargo denim shorts. Perfect shade of denim too!

Lucky Brand Chambray Romper, $79.50 – The closest I found to Alessandra Ambrosio’s denim romper. Wish we could see the back to check if it has the racerback design too, but at least the description says that it has both front and back pockets like Alessandra’s.
