As a fashion writer, I find it difficult to allow a significant amount of time to pass without referring back to denim or featuring it in some way. When you first think of denim, what first pops into your head? Here is my immediate list: comfort, casual, easy, flexible. I’ll spare you from having to read more; however, my list does go on and on.
In my humble opinion, jeans are the most adaptable clothing item you can own. Personally speaking, my favorite pair of jeans is the only article of clothing in my current wardrobe roster that I can wear with any outfit regardless of the season. It works perfectly with casual outfits and smart casual ensembles — heck, I can even find stylish ways to pair it with formal pieces as well as sport-inspired ones.
Throughout the years, we have seen many different styles come and go. We now find ourselves in a unique period when many of these so-called past styles have re-emerged back to the forefront. What does that mean for us, the consumers? Well, virtually all styles you can imagine happen to thrive simultaneously, leaving us with an increased number of options to choose from. I don’t know about you, but I, for one, could not be more thrilled.
For this post, we decided to turn to our favorite fashion bloggers to show you the different styles of denim.

Skinny
Always a favorite, we see Gala here in a pair of skinny jeans. Popular for its form-fitting silhouette, skinny jeans help accentuate the shape of your legs. Gala opted to go with some chic casual pieces to combine with her jeans — a white tee, an oversized flannel shirt, and a studded cap.

Boyfriend
It’s once again time to re-visit the androgynous trend. Making a big leap last year, the boyfriend jeans is an ideal piece for ladies that crave that loose-fitting casual silhouette. Jayne is the perfect example to show how to properly pull off this look. With her baggy denims, she chose to combine it with a short-sleeved, crew-neck sweatshirt and a pair of trendy ghillie boots.

Flared
We found a great pic of Jules sporting a pair of flared denims, reminiscent of the ’70s. To combine with these bad boys, she went with a collarless oversized jacket, a gray-hued crew-neck sweater, leopard-printed heels, and a leather tote bag.

Cropped/Fold-over
The cropped/fold-over look not only adds some edge to your outfit; it also provides a channel to allow your footwear to steal some attention. To go with her jeans, we see Bridg in a vintage-style moto jacket, a blue-and-green cashmere scarf, a gray pullover sweater, and a pair of black ankle booties.

Ripped/Distressed
Whether DIY or purchased, the best way to incorporate that “bad a**” look to your jeans is to sport the distressed and/or ripped version. Cindy pulled this look off masterfully when she combined her jeans with an acid-washed denim shirt and a chic pair of heels.

Colored
An avant-garde stylist, Jayne is seen here wearing a chic red pair of jeans. Her colored denim pops in her outfit that consists of an oversized white button-down top, an asymmetrical moto jacket, and a pair of black platform heels. One word — WOW!

Printed/Statement
Likely the hardest to pull off, Jayne had no trouble finding pieces to combine with her statement pair. To combine with these printed gems, Jayne went with a black overcoat, a tie-dyed button-down shirt, a black leather designer bag, and a pair of heeled platform booties.
