Low-key denim was in high demand at weekend 1 of Coachella 2013. From head scarves to flower headbands, no accessory was off limits when it came to making denim ready for the festival.
Celebrities served up plenty of denim looks, but while some were eye candy, there were also a few that were more of eyesores.
Read on to check out the best and worst denim outfits we spotted at the first weekend of this year’s Coachella.
The Best Denim Outfits
Alessandra Ambrosio
We consider Alessandra Ambrosio as a superstar here on Your Next Jeans, so it comes as no surprise that we totally loved her Coachella looks. Alessandra styled a floral head scarf and pink shorts like the seasoned pro that she is and made a tied-at-the-waist sleeveless chambray shirt look positively editorial-worthy.

Bella Thorne
If there ever was a right time and place to rock a flower headband and high-cut acid-wash denim shorts, it would be when you’re a youthful 15 years old and at Coachella like Bella Thorne.

Julianne Hough
Julianne Hough looked fresh at the festival in her simple button-down silk shirt and new shorter do.

Hilary Duff
Hilary Duff channeled an Indiana Jones–inspired look at Coachella. We love how her outfit is so simple yet so stylish and how the layers make it so easy to transition from day to night.

Joshua Jackson
Joshua Jackson is always the perfect style match to girlfriend Diane Kruger, who, unfortunately, had to be relegated to our worst denim outfits list.
Yes, we know he only changed his shirt for day 2 of Coachella, but we’re giving him extra points for his gentlemanly gesture of carrying around a blanket for Diane to sit on around his shoulders.

The Worst Denim Outfits
Kristen Stewart / Audrina Patridge / Emma Roberts
A bland knotted t-shirt + short shorts combo may be one of the most comfortable outfits you can wear to a music festival, but seeing it again and again on Kristen Stewart, Audrina Patridge, and Emma Roberts makes it seem even blander.

Ashley Benson
We’ve always found Ashley Benson really cute, but her penchant for black jeans ripped at the knees? Not so much.

Kelly Rowland
Kelly Rowland’s tough biker outfit would’ve looked good anywhere else, but not at Coachella. We do covet those gold-rimmed sunglasses though.

Joe Jonas
Those thighs! We know Joe Jonas has always preferred this type of jeans, but we think they look better with a t-shirt rather than this tank top.

Diane Kruger
This is one of Diane Kruger’s rare fashion misses. Her fleece-lined denim jacket looks super cozy, but its proportions are all wrong with that paper-bag-waisted pleated skirt and heavy combat boots.
