In the above photo, she wears a straight leg, sateen ankle pants with a vibrant print, a navy top, leather jacket, pumps and necklace– all from the same designer, Tory Burch. It wasn’t enough that model Caroline Trentini had already professed her love for designer Olivier Theyskens’ creations, she had to wear the label to the MET Institute Gala in New York earlier this week. Clad in an unusual denim gown with who else but the designer himself in her arms, Caroline strutted the red carpet looking elegant (read: fit for royalty) in her custom-made frock. Who knew denim could be so regal?

A gawking onlooker actually gasped when told that Trentini’s gown was denim, saying “I had no idea it was actually denim!” Well, I know how she feels. If I were to look at this dress from afar, I would most likely think it was made of a light suede or velvet material. Olivier Theyskens, who is famous for his extravagant gowns, says this about this denim piece: “It looks beautiful because it’s like velvet, but it’s denim! Nowadays I’m doing Theyskens’ Theory and I wanted to switch a little bit and I wanted to do a jean dress with a beautifully embroidered t-shirt. So it’s like a t-shirt and jeans. But in a red carpet way.” It was genius.

I love how the rich brocade embroidery on her see-through blouse contrasted the casualness of the dress material, balancing out the final look. Btw, note the denim clutch bag too! Although this isn’t the first time that denim has been seen on the red carpet, this look really is different and I’ve got to hand it to Theyskens for a job well done. Anyway, it turns out there was someone else who took the jean to the MET this year. Check out Jenny Lyons below who wore a fitted jacket with her fuchsia skirt.

I am beginning to think that Taylor Swift’s fashion icon is no other than the stylish Audrey Hepburn whose looks were simply classic, ageless and unforgettable. Case in point: a few days ago, TS stepped out from a Neil Lane jewelry shop in LA (after purchasing a ring) dressed in red ankle length skinny jeans, a navy & white striped top, a bandanna to hold her hair back, dark sunglasses and pretty ballerina flats. Dark crimson lips sealed off her ooh la la look.

She seems to be loving the nautical hues, too. Check out the navy and white dress she recently wore while shopping in LA. She added red peep toes and a red shoulder bag (same one she wore in the first photo) plus the signature rayban sunnies that, btw, has a staunch following amongst the Hollywood A-list dressers. The outfit is still very Audrey-ish, don’t you think?

Now for what this blog is really all about: her AG Adriano Goldschmeid skinny jeans. It’s been said that denims really never go out of style, no matter what the cut and color. Specific trends just reach a peak, fall on a plateau, maybe get inconspicuous for some time and then gradually get back on top again. The red jeans got its all time high last year: everybody who mattered were spotted strolling the high streets in red jeans. Today, thanks to TS who has millions of adoring fans, it gets back on track. Methinks there’s no better season to be in red & blue than in summer. Aye Aye Captain!

For many weeks now, I’ve been seeing denims in all colors (bright and pastel) and in a myriad of prints (mostly floral and geometric). I don’t remember the last time I saw a celeb in dark animal print jeans, imagine my thrill when I chanced upon the pretty Mena Suvari in a pair of leopards from Joe’s Jeans! She wore one to the Neff Headwear & The Seventh Letter Sesame Street Art Exhibit in Los Angeles, California a few days ago.

Mena seriously rocks in this outfit! The occasion called for some jaunty but chic style, nothing dressy yet nothing too casual as well. Her get-up is almost Euro fashion: the black leather jacket is a permanent fixture in the streets of London. And so are the studded leather bag and booties. The sisters flaunted their toned abs and long pins but it was Kendall who caused quite a stir in her fought-with-a-wild-cat leggings. Fashion critics were quick to judge the teener calling her a rebellious, attention craving daughter who wants to be more famous than Kim K. But we’re no psychiatrists, yah? In my point of view, she’s just a blossoming girl with an attitude, someone who is most likely to experiment with fashion the way every other confident girl does. But well, maybe it’s not exactly proper airport get-up. Admittedly.
